An art gallery without facades…2 sculptural volumes into the water
This project in Chengdu is an art gallery that is consistent of 2 buildings. The main building is designed for the purposes of a contemporary art expositions and the other one would be suitable for organizing conferences and temporary events. Normally, we would imagine that a building would have 4 facades but in this case we took a different approach with this design. Our concept is not to create a “4 facades” building, but instead we designed a “flow” of 3 curved three-dimensional stripes for the main building that would have hundreds of different views. The buildings will only have a “skin” that moves and wraps the structure like a wave. “The skin” is made out of metal triangular construction with small pieces of glass in between. There is a spectacular garden in the middle of the main building where visitors can relax and enjoy the peaceful harmony in that environment.
